Kernel module does not match VirtualBox version

Post by olgapf »

Hi, all.

I'm new to Linux and wanted to use some work related software in Windows, but I cant manage to make VirtualBox work. I'm using Linux Mint 17.2 and the most recent VirtualBox version.

This is the error message I got:

RTR3InitEx failed with rc=-1912 (rc=-1912)

The VirtualBox kernel modules do not match this version of VirtualBox. The installation of VirtualBox was apparently not successful. Executing

'/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup'

may correct this. Make sure that you do not mix the OSE version and the PUEL version of VirtualBox.

I dont know why, but I cant manage to open Terminal to write this message. Can anyone shed some light on this, please?

Thanks! :)

You need to purge the install and start over. Make sure to use the official build from Virtualbox.org.

If you can't open a terminal start a tty window and do it from there.
