[BUG] VirtualBox 5.0 doesn't open on Vista x64 (0xc000007b)

Post by bmn »

I'm having the current problem with VirtualBox 5.0 in my Windows Vista Business x64.

Not sure what is causing it, but I updated every C++ Redist (2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015) and .Net Redist (3.5, 4.5).
Current antivírus is Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1. It didn't work with it disabled as well.

I also enabled the debug to dump the error in the file anexed.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the dump file. Can't immediately tell which image file the NTDLL.DLL init code is upset about, it has already loaded kernel32.dll. The sysfer.dll image is loaded btw, guess symantec protection cannot quite be disabled without uninstalling it.

Important question, did this work with 4.3.x before?

Also, do you have a VBoxStartup.log file for this VM start attempt?

Cheers,
bird.

I got version 4.3.12 working, but versions 4.3.14 gave a message about Symantec Endpoint Protection and version 4.3.28 gave the same error.

Also, I don't have any VMs on this host, so i guess no VBoxStartup.log?
