A E_FAIL (0x80004005) when try to run

Post by TactiCuy »

Hello Gurus,

Host: WINDOWS10
VirtualBox Ver: 5.0.0 r101573
VirtualBox try-to: Ubuntu (32bit)
Error happen when: after start the VirtualBox, try to select a start-up disk, an VB closes and a popup window appear with the following message:
The VM session was aborted.
Result Code:
E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component:
SessionMachine
Interface:
ISession {7844aa05-b02e-4cdd-a04f-ade4a762e6b7}

After checking my logs I found this:

1880.1984: supR3HardenedMonitor_LdrLoadDll: error opening 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\ext-ms-win-devmgmt-policy-l1-1-0.dll': 0 (NtPath=\??\C:\WINDOWS\system32\ext-ms-win-devmgmt-policy-l1-1-0.dll; Input=ext-ms-win-devmgmt-policy-l1-1-0.dll; rcNtGetDll=0xc0000135

And, as I try to run the VirtualBox in the new Windows 10, I discovered that the library ext-ms-win-devmgmt-policy-l1-1-0.dll doesn´t exists under the folder C:\WINDOWS\system32.

Any ideas how to fix it? I want to add that I´m quite newbie in VB, and perhaps I do something wrong... "Be Aware"...

Rgds

I had the same issue.
Except This is Mine.

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Windows8.1.
The VM session was aborted.

Host: WINDOWS10

If I had to guess, It has to do with a compatibility issue.
=Directory Problem

=Path Problem
I need to use Android Studio and it would tell me that it cannot find the jdk file it is looking for. (Already set a path to the jdk/bin directory with variable JAVA_HOME)

I believe it has to do with the new OS's (win10) reading files through applications.

For All I know, Directory/Paths are having problems when applications are trying to read a directory and searching for files on WINDOWS 10.
FYI: I have Windows 10 EDU

Hello,

I recently updated to Windows-10. After upgrade , all the VMs were working fine, however, I had to delete them so that it can be moved to another drive. Once I deleted all of them and tried to create on another drive, the problem started.

I just can't do anything. If anyone knows work-around then it will excelleted. I have downgrade virtualbox, used default configuration but it just failed.
