I was watching netflix while installing VB. mid install netflix stops playing back just freezes on screen. I thought nothing of it and finished the install. 20 min later i notice youtube wont play, local mp3s wont play, vlc will playback a local movie but with no sound. seems like everything media related has taken a dump. I was using chrome btw. tried IE and youtube plays extremely slow lie 3fps slow. still with no sound.

I have tried rebooting, reinstalling flash, uninstalling VB, rebooting again. malwarebytes scan (clean).
also i did get VB from the official site. running on windows 8.1

Can anyone tell me what happened?

windows rollback seems to have done the trick.
