Windows guest won't update on Mac host, will on Windows

Hi,
I'm having a weird issue that's got me scratching my head.
I have an iMac running OS X 10.10.4 and VirtualBox 5.0.0 r101573. I've created a Windows 7 Pro x64 guest VM and everything is working fine except Windows Update.
The guest VM is configured with a bridged network adapter, it has a static IP address, it is a member of an Active Directory domain that has WSUS configured and all other machines work fine. The guest VM is able to communicate with the network without issue, browse the web and all the usual connectivity tests are good however when attempting to run Windows Update I get an unknown error 8024400B.
I assumed that this would be a problem with the Windows guest itself or the WSUS server it is trying to get it's updates from BUT I have eliminated those possibilities by simply copying the entire VM to a Windows host, firing it up and discovering that Windows Update now works. This must mean that there are a specific set of conditions when the guest is running on the Mac that cause the issue. I don't even know how this could be possible but it is what I'm seeing......
Has anyone else encountered this issue or do you have any suggestions of what I can try to resolve this?
Cheers,
Iain.
