Can't get USB devices to show up, running Windows 8.1

Post by Cricketguyable »

Hi everyone, I’m new to the forums, and have signed up as I am having a problem using VirtualBox. Everything is running smoothly on my Windows 8.1, but the only problem is that I just cannot get USB drives working on it. I have already tried watching tutorials, but it did not work.

I have installed the current expansion pack, and even went to settings, ports, and enabled my USB stick. But it just ain’t showing up on my Windows 8.1. I have taken 2 screenshots below:

My VirtualBox Ports Settings Tab:

I am using a Mac, with 4GB Ram, OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 and running Windows 8.1 on the latest version of VirtualBox. Below is the overview of my Mac. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Fixed!

I fixed it! Fixed it by ejecting the disk on my host. Then going to the devices dropdown tab above, and selecting my device.

Hi Cricketguyable,

I am running Windows 10 on my VB. I was having the same issue you were and even corrected it the way you by ejecting on host and selecting it in the dropdown, but it still doesn't show up in my Windows Machine.. Am I missing something?

Wow, that's weird o_o . After you eject it from your host, have you *clicked* on your device from the USB dropdown menu in "Devices"? May sound weird, but many people don't click on it, just leave it there thinking it's already working :P Have you also installed the Extension Pack for VirtualBox?
