AVOID ERRORS FOR THOSE UPGRADED TO WIN10 & VB5.0

Post by ibrahim52 »

Hi,

I just upgraded to Windows 10 and no surprise Windows XP as a guests OS in VBox did not work and ended up with "Cannot load R0 module C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox/VBoxDD2R0.r0:" error.

Long story short, whoever faces such issues should trying these steps :-

1. Uninstall the old version if running 4.3.30
2. Install the latest version 5.0 from
3. In case if the guest OS profile is already loaded then its fine, otherwise load the guest OS once again.
4. Before starting the guest OS, make sure you disable your third party antivirus and Windows Firewall to completely OFF
5. Voila, Vbox should work normally for your Guest OS and now you can resume the AV and Firewall. Also you can use VBox normally and does not need to keep disabling AV & Firewall all the time, it is just required the first time.

I noticed that everything becomes back to old state once you reboot Windows. I tried "allow app" from Windows Firewall but I was still facing VirtualBox crashing until I took the Oracle or Virtualbox folder under Program Files as exclusion in my antivirus settings.

I am using Anti Malwarebytes by the way.

Thanks for the suggestions ibrahim52! I've been trying to get this to work. In my case, just exiting MalwareBytes Anti-Malware did the trick. Didn't have to mess with the firewall at all.
