Hello,

I am configuring a .vdi image file to be mass produced for about 15 users. This virtualbox file will be used with the OS system Win XP, to better interact with our clients legacy systems that run IE 8 w/ Java. I also need to install the Microsoft Office Suite 2010 on the box to allow users to manage files such as excel, word from the client system. I am having issues installing Microsoft Office due to the disk size of the virtual box only being 5GB, does anyone know how to increase the size of the virtual disk ? I've looked at a few resources and have been unable to get anything to work.

Below is where my file is located on my machine.

C:\VMbox\VirtualBox VMs\

file type - Open Virtualization Format Archive (.ova)

Any help would be much appreciated.

You can't resize a drive that is packed inside an OVA. For one thing OVAs use VMDK, and VBoxManage doesn't support resizing those. For another thing OVAs use compressed VMDKs, which nobody supports resizing.

You are supposed to import an OVA before messing with it. Though I confess that I don't understand what an OVA is doing inside the "VirtualBox VMs" folder!

Or perhaps you were under the impression that an OVA is a disk image? It isn't. It's an archive of a representation of the entire VM.

I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, since the OP said "I am configuring a .vdi image file…" they were planning on converting the vm to an .ova post resizing. I may have been mistaken.
