Early 2013 MacBook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.4. Windows 7 Pro guest - worked like a champ for 2 years.

Upgraded to VirtualBox 5.0 - everything is great, except lost the mic. Audio works, no errors in log, but microphone does not pick up any sounds. Installed a Win 8.1 guest from scratch just to make sure - identical situation. Extension pack and guest additions installed in all cases. Tried Core Audio and ICH97.

Tried the Mac MIDI Audio setup with 44100Hz / 24 (even 16)bit - didn't make any difference. Nothing weird in the logs, but can reinstall VB 5.0 and redo the logs if anyone is willing to look.

Downgraded to 4.3.30 today - mic is back.

All this about built-in MacBook Pro mic (obviously works in host).

My USB Blue Snowball mic is not recognized. I have added the USB filter, but with no effect.

Host Audio Driver: CoreAudio

The mic doesn't work on my Windows 8.1 guest, either.

The audio infrastructure changed for v5. Please check that the input hasn't simply moved. E.g. in the past it was my understanding that MIC_IN never worked (at least on Windows hosts), the input was always taken from LINE_IN. You might want to check different inputs.

I'm having the same problem. Curiously, though, it seems that VB 5 now recognizes my USB mic (SpeechMike Premium - Philips) as a HD audio imput device, as opposed to VB 4.3. I had given up using my speechmike as main mic while using a brazilian portuguese medical speech recognition software that runs only on windows. Instead, I was using built-in audio with my iphone headphone mic, recognized as a 44100Hz / 16 bit audio device, while the USB mic was not.

Anyway, I'd like to have bult-in mic back to guest windows (now running windows 10).

USB mic recongnized only as 1 channel, 16 bit, 22050Hz audio device.
