FYI: "Get Free Windows 10" on OEM: no revert to Windows 7,8

Just found this out while considering trying Windows 10 on my Lenovo Windows 7 OEM laptop as an upgrade with a system image or dual-boot.

Windows 10 upgrades will "consume" the license for the earlier Windows OEM OS on the computer, meaning that the old license now applies to Windows 10 and no longer will allow a re-install of the older OEM OS. The motherboard will be tied to the Windows 10 and the old OEM won't be installable anymore.

No reverts on OEM licenses of Windows, at least. Choose wisely....

Interesting read. Not what I was told to begin with but it makes sense if you want to eliminate users and force them to use W-10 or nothing. I still have one Win-7 guest that I test with but you know what? I may just shatter my last glass window and finally give up on MS.

Thanks for the heads up. Even our IT guy here was unaware of this "gotcha".
