Virtualbox 1.5.6 doesn't capture the mouse

New to VBox. After a number of aborted tries got it installed and installed WindowsXP.
I can communicate with the virtual Windows machine using the keybord, but as you can imagine that is frustrating and limited.
Whenever I click in the Virtual machine window I get a message telling me I have done so and offering me a "Capture" button to click so that the virtual machine will take over the mouse. I click on the button and the dialogue disappears but the capture doesn't take place. Instead the same dialogue appears each time I click the mouse.

Any ideas?

Problem solved

Hi Guys, thanks for the suggestions.

A colleague of mine found the solution. It seems that the fancy desktop options in Ubuntu (I'm using gutsy) interfere with the mouse capture.
Go to System>Preferences>Appearance when Appearance opens click on the Visual Effects tab and select "None" then close it.
After I did this and restarted Virtualbox the mouse capture worked fine.
You can always switch your fancy desktop options back on again in the same way after you have finished with Virtualbox.

Also, instead of going through those hoops and loops, you could just use fusion-icon. It just loads into the panel's tray.
