Hi guys,
I hope I am posting this in the correct section, if I ain't apologies from me.
I am in the process of installing Windows 7 on to the VM VirtulBox and I am doing this through an .iso - I am trying to mount the following onto the VM (Windows Global Server Offline Image for Windows Server 2008 SP2 x64 Bootable DVD)
I get as far as where Windows is being installed and moved on to installing the updates however this is where it fails and I get the following error:
"Windows could not apply unattended settings during pass (null)" - The Installation was cancelled.
I have been Googling the resolution to this problem but I can't seem to find a definite answer anywhere.
If someone can help me with this I would really really appreciate it!
Thanks

Re: Windows could not apply unattended settings during pass
Post a VM log file: right click the VM in the GUI. Select "Show Log". Save "VBox.log" (ONLY) to a file. COMPRESS that file and attach it to a message here. Make sure the VM is fully shut down before taking a log.
I should say however that I doubt I'll learn much from the log - this doesn't sound like a problem with the target PC, and being a virtual PC doesn't change that. You really need to approach Microsoft if you want support for their products.

Thanks for your response
I believe it is an issue to do with the updates with SP2 which is causing it to crash but I am not sure. I am only saying this because I had read it on other posts over the net.

Re: Windows could not apply unattended settings during pass
You need to ask the people who created this special installation ISO.
It seems to contain an unattended installation script which tries to do additional things.

Re: Windows could not apply unattended settings during pass
You should reduce the guest RAM allocation to 2GB. Your host can't afford 4GB.
Otherwise, I don't see much else to pick on. As I said, you really need to approach Microsoft for support for one of their products.

Thanks for the response - do you mind confirming where abouts you are seeing this in script, so I can go back?Martin wrote:You need to ask the people who created this special installation ISO.
