Device drivers not installing

VM BOX - problem with drivers installing
I have used vm box in the past and recently deleted it and reinstalled a newer version with the extension pack. But it will not allow any of the device drivers to install for anything. I have reinstalled the extension pack numerous times but no change.

I'm wondering if it could be a driver not installed on the host system. Also, wondering if i need to adjust under Settings - Network. I adjusted some and no difference; will try a few more but don't expect a change to occur.

When i open vmbox it immediately says installing device driver software in the guest taskbar, but is not able to in the guest os, but it does install in the host os. If i put in a flash drive or external wifi adapter, the device drivers won't install in the guest vmbox; they do in the host os. No drivers will install in guest os/ vmbox.

In the Settings, under USB, i have added the flash drives, both specifically for each flash, and the all-inclusive generic on the right side of the screen.

I downloaded the 5.0 yesterday and installed both the main vmbox and 5.0 extension pack. Had the same problem with the version before the 5.0.

ERROR MESSAGE: FAILED TO ATTACH USB DEVICE TO VIRTUAL MACHINE. FAILED TO CREATE A PROXY DEVICE FOR THE USB (ERROR: VERR_PDM_NO_USB_PORTS. RESULT CODE: E_FAIL (0X80004005). COMPONENT: CONSOLE WRAP.

Using windows 7, inspiron 5520 dell laptop.

What do you think the problem is?

There is a maximum number of USB devices you can attach at one time to the VM - Check this topic.

thanks but that's not the problem. when vmbox tries to open a snapshot, i get the message : installing device driver software" and it will not install. I think i need a certain driver on the host windows 7 os but don't know which one.

I have downloaded and installed and re-downloaded and reinstalled vmbox 5.0 numerous times; same problem. I am not new to vmbox, have used for a while.

When i open device manager in guest os/ vmbox, it says that the "base system device" is missing (yellow mark). I don't have any of these yellow marks in my host os.

Someone hacked onto my computer a week ago. I erased the hard drive and it is clean. Is it possible that they could have gone into the bios and did something so that my vmbox will not operate properly. The person who did this is an expert hacker and they were on my computer long enough (time wise) to possibly do this. Can't figure out why else it is not working.

Also, when i open the 'start' - windows circle in the bottom left corner, it is not working properly. Everything is super slow to open and when i type in device manager, nothing will populate sometimes, and other times it is extremely slow to populate; sometimes have to do it numerous times. In the past didn't have this issue.
