I recently created a virtual machine of Windows 8.1 x64 and then I tried to install the Guest addons via the Device > Insert guest addon CD.
It begins installing then the screen goes black and comes back to the attached picture.
The window in the screenshot is the guest addons installer.
My OS: Windows 7 x64
Guest OS: Windows 8.1 x64
VirtualBox and Addons Version 5.0.0-101573.
This worked before but won't anymore.
Can anyone please help me figure out what's going on?

Try disabling 3D acceleration for the guest.

Welcome. if 3D is fixed for Windows guests on Windows hosts. Not until then.
