Hi,
I am experiencing a very strange behaviour with VirtualBox 5.0. A problem I never experienced with previous versions of Virtual Box.
Host is a Windows 7 32 bits machine, VM is Windows XP SP3 (no firewall).
The network is configured as Bridged.
I wrote a very very simple application sending a simple Udp packet (no matter what is inside).
From host computer(192.168.3.116) To VM(192.168.3.102)
Step 1 : PC rebooted and no Virtual box started
- Send Upd packet --> No problem --> Wireshark is showing the Udp packet with Source (192.168.3.116) Destination(192.168.3.102)
Step 2 : Starts Virtual Box and start VM
- Send Udp packet --> Problem --> Wireshark is showing the Udp packet with Source (192.168.3.102) Destination(192.168.3.116)
From there it is dead. No way back to the original config. Even if I guess that a reset of ARP table would help.
Moreover, when ended the VM, wireshark is telling that the adapter is no longer running (I didn't get with previous version neither)
Does anyone have an idea of what is going on? Does anyone already experienced this (if yes a solution maybe?)
Many thanks for you help

Re: Virtual Box 5.0 host networking disturbed
In VirtualBox 5.0, the bridge filter has been changed to comply with the new versions out there. You might need to use the old version.
I don't have the means to look up the doc at the moment but search for NDIS5 and NDIS6 on the forums and the docs, you should find the relevant info. You want to revert back to NDIS5

Thanks for the quick answer,
Do you think I have to revert back the whole VirtualBox? If yes will the VM images be backward compatible?
Thanks again

You shouldn't have the revert back the VirtualBox version, just tweak the (re)installation.
