Upgrading from version 4.3.30 r101610 to version 5.0

I'd like to upgrade to Virtualbox version 5.0 for its USB 3.0 support (to be able to back up with my Passport drive). Am running Virtualbox installed on a Macbook Pro running Mavericks. My guest OS is Windows 7 Professional. I recently upgraded to Version 4.3.30 r101610 with no problems (after getting a Virtualbox message that the upgrade was available). When after the upgrade checking Virtualbox for further updates, I get a message that I'm already running the most recent version.

Because Virtualbox isn't automatically recognizing version 5.0 as an update for my system, I'm leery about downloading version 5.0 directly from the Virtualbox website and installing it.

Does anyone know why my current version of Virtualbox isn't identifying version 5.0 as an update for my system? Also, despite my current version of Virtualbox not identifying version 5.0 as an update, is it safe/advisable to download version 5.0 from the Virtualbox website and installing it? Thanks.

Okay first, you posted in the wrong section. You have an OSX host, not Windows host. Second, it's perfectly safe to download and install VB 5.0. I have it installed on 3 Macs.

The update notification is always behind. I should add 4.3.30 is the latest 4.3.x version.

Ooops on the wrong section. Maybe a moderator can re-post it in the correct section? Thanks for the info on upgrading to version 5.0.

He did. :)

Don't forget to upgrade the extension pack and install the new guest additions in your guests.
