Time syncing biossystemtimeoffset errors

Post by mateek »

I noticed that my guest Windows Server 2012 R2 wasn't syncing time, so I installed vboxguestadditions, from Windows 8.1 64-bit. As soon as I did, time began to sync, but exactly an hour fast. That's better, but I'm worried when I start to put this guest server in service for my home calendar, that difference will reap havoc on my reminders. The time zones on guest and host are set correctly.

I found a webpage which led me to what I'm sure is the right setting to adjust:

Code: Select all

VBoxManage modifyvm S12S -biossystemtimeoffset -3600000
but I keep getting this set of errors:

Code: Select all

VBoxManage.exe: error: Failed to assign the machine to the session (E_FAIL)
VBoxManage.exe: error: Details: code VBOX_E_VM_ERROR (0x80bb0003), component Machine, interface IMachine, callee IUnknown
VBoxManage.exe: error: Context: "LockMachine(a->session, LockType_Write)" at line 471 of file VBoxManageModifyVM.cpp
I've tried: disabling anti-virus on the host, changing most every setting in the VirtualBox Settings > machine > Settings > System: three tabs, namely; chipset, Hardware clock in UTC time, enable PAE/NX, and enable Nested Paging.

I've exhausted the forums and googled a few different ways, but I'm getting no where.

I'm always getting the same set of errors. Anyone familiar with this command and these errors?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT TO GET "Minimum information needed for assistance ":
Version of VIrtualBox 4.3.30
Guestadditions 4.3.30
Guest is 64bit of Windows Server 2012 R2 / 6GB RAM
Host Windows 8.1 64bit has 10GB additional RAM

I think you missed the "zipped" word in my request :)
Please remove the 4 parts of the VBoxStartup.log and attach the zip version instead.

Many of these errors. Could you uninstall 4t Tray Minimizer, reboot and try again?

Thanks noteirak. I just uninstalled 4T Tray Minimizer, and rebooted everything, but I've got the same exact set of errors.
