Switch your XP VM to safe mode, install the guest additions.
OSX, Linux and Windows Hosts & Guests

Note that you only need safe mode if you enable 3D acceleration, and that usually isn't necessary (IMHO) in an XP guest.

Turn off "scale mode". That will be the reason for the blurriness. After the Guest Additions are installed you'll be able to select larger display sizes correctly.

Untick View|Scale mode. It can also be toggled using <host>+C. Unless you have changed it, <host> is usually the right control key.

Done

I disable Settings-user interface-view-scaled mode in the machine first. So then don't go host+C

I noticed my error and now goes well.
