Problem is the video/audio is playing back too fast when watching Youtube videos or any kind of video/audio playback in general. This sounds like a chipmunk type effect on fast-forward.
I am running a VirtualBox 5.0 on my OS X host machine with Ubuntu 14.04.02 as the guest.
Tried:
1) I've uninstalled VirtualBox 4.3.8 VBoxGuestAdditions and installed the version for 5.0.
2) And this solution I tried, but doesn't work:

Anyone have any ideas on how to address this?

With the guest shutdown, try running this in the Mac terminal…
the volume level may change, If so, run alsamixer in the Ubuntu guest terminal and increase the volume level.
Code: Select all
VBoxManage modifyvm "machinename" --audiocodec ad1980OSX, Linux and Windows Hosts & Guests
