Cannot Mount Guest ISO with VB on Yosemite

LART me if you will, but I can't find the thread ongoing from the top level of the forums after logging in. The interface needs some work. Also it is not accessible, the fonts much too small.

I installed the latest VB on Mac Book running Yosemite as host. The guest is Ubuntu 14.04.01 server from an iso. VB runs nominally and the OS installs into a VM.

VB refuses to mount the guest additions iso and offers no recovery. I just can't use the small screen comfortably due to poor vision.

I did the update and upgrade steps on the system and installed dkms. I wonder if I need to install the linux headers and that is the reason the mount fails.

I was able to use the same OS with guest additions built-in as part of a VDI and it uses Unity as the GUI. I want gnome classic. Also the adduser scripts were disabled so I cannot set users and passwords. I'd like to change root's passed. This says that I know that some form of the guest add ons does work on my system.

Please give precise error messages - e.g. screenshots. A VM log would be useful too. At the moment you seem to be relying on facts not in evidence.
