Windows 8.1 guest OS running slow

I have seen many posts about this issue, but all relate to slower machines or some setting or another.
I have tried everything google and this forum has to offer except posting my own thread, so here goes....

I have a machine that should not struggle:

my gfx card is a geforce 980 gtx although I don't really use 3d applications.
The settings for my virtual machine are as follows:

The machine runs on a dedicated hard drive (it's just a sata drive, nothing special) with nearly 2 tb of free space.
When running the machine, it takes about 5 - 10 minutes to load windows (after the initial boot which isn't that bad).
I have disabled pretty much everything that loads with windows, but that isn't the main problem. The main problem is when actually using the machine. When I am just doing code edits, etc, it is fine (to a degree) but if I try to debug anything then the system becomes really sluggish.
Can someone help me figure out why? I will post logs and whatever you require (I might need help finding them though).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you mean it takes 5-10 minutes to start your guest that seems like a very long time. It takes less than 10 seconds for me to get to the log in screen and maybe another 10 secs after I enter my password and hit return. My i7 is actually slower than yours.

Anyway, attach the vbox.log (compressed) to a message here.

I have attached all my logs including the startup log file:

Code: Select all

00:00:51.045395 supR3HardenedErrorV: supR3HardenedScreenImage/LdrLoadDll: cached rc=VERR_LDRVI_NOT_SIGNED fImage=1 fProtect=0x0 fAccess=0x0 cHits=512 \Device\HarddiskVolume1\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\Screen Split\bin\ScreenSplitterHook64.dll
The above needs to be fixed. Either get a signed version of the package or remove it.

I would also reduce the cores to 3 instead of 4 since this will cause the host to suffer which in turn will make the guest slower.
