Application running on guest runs out of memory

Hello all,
I run usually two 32bit windows 7 guests on virtualbox on my PC so I can use specific software packages that are installed on the guests, this has always worked really well the guests are set up and configured perfectly and I built my PC with running VM's in mind I've never had any real problems. That is until one or two virtualbox updates ago, now for some reason I constantly have one of the programs I run on the guests complaining it has run out of memory, when this happens the program either crashes or I have to close it and restart it (the program on the VM I mean, not the VM itself), this program never did this before, either on a physical powered machine or on the virtual machines until about three weeks ago, it does it many times everyday now its really infuriating, nothing has changed with the configuration of the VM's or the host PC, the VM's were converted from fairly good Toshiba laptops I run them with 4Gb memory, 2 or 4 CPU's, PAE/NX, VT-x/AMD-v, 1 or 2 displays and they access various shared folders on hard-drives on the host. I cant figure out why now all of a sudden I'm having memory problems with this program, I'm sure it has something to do with one of the Virtualbox or Guest Additions updates of late,, anyone had similar experiences?
