HI,

I have a centos 5.1 server was running Xen. Got sick of trying to make various distros work. Vbox looked promising.

It installed perfectly, Kernel modules built GUI up all guest additions worked etc. I have the following config.

Centos 5.1 Host 2xGB Etehrnet Adaptors, fixed IP in 192.168.0.x
br0 bridge configured and Eth1 added to the bridge
vbox0 to 3 Host Interface adaptors configured and working
VBoxAddIF vboxN root br0
ifconfig - shows everything OK

Centos 5.1 Guest
Assigned using HIN to vbox0 Fixed IP on the 192.168.0.x network
all is well - ping everywhere all services up and working

Elastix PBX (Centos 5) Guest
Assigned using HIN to vbox1 Fixed IP on the 192.168.0.x network
all is well - ping everywhere all services up and working

Windows XP Pro SP2
Assigned using HIN to vbox2 fixed IP on the 192.168.0.x network
No networking, cannot ping anything. Not even the bridge.
Tried DHCP (no IP gets assigned)
Works if using NAT (NO USE TO ME)
Tried all three network adaptors even downloaded XP driver for the INTEL PRO CARD install perfectly - HIN does not work

ifconfig output on SSH terminal connection
[root@xen ~]# ifconfig

As you can see all seems perfect. Everything boots perfectly, no errors all green. Just HIN does not work in XP. Can anyone help please. I thought I may have the answer with VBOX happy to sacrifice (a little) performance over a XEN VM for the fexibility of any distro (within reason).

If I cannot make this work then its back to XEN!

Also had to uninstall all vbox HIN adaptors (vbox0-3) and reinstall them after all networking stopped in the VM's (may have been due to rebooting many, many, many times.) Also, the bridge seems to hold onto any Fixed IP's configured in the VM's even if you change them and reboot the VM, pinging the old IP still works, so it is still attached to the bridge!!!

Any help would be appreciated, getting to the end of my tether now after instlling evrything twice minimum.

Cheers
Spart
