Post by vbox123 »

if i create a nat virtual box in a private network, will the virtual box be visible in any way to other computers in the host's network?

If you use VBox NAT and not NAT networking it should not.

It has been my experience that while things are supposed to work a certain way, users find some way to get around the default actions and this is why the reply should. But if you want an absolute you should ask a sith.

I only ask because I'm at work and need to run WIndows 10 to run a specific app, I just don't want my name to blatantly pop up in the network when i login with my personal details. lol.

I think that's the key element of your question here.

If you use NAT, NAT Network or Host-Only, the VM will not be visible at the TCP/IP level.
It could be noticeable in the upper levels - many protocols include the hostname of the computer, or some specific hardware info which can easily be recognizable.
This is especially true in corporate environment where network traffic is analyze in depth and not just at TCP/IP.

So... it all depends on your network corporate setup. That's also why Perry answered "should": it's not a black or white answer.
