Hello,
Host: 64 bit Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Guest: 64 bit Windows 7
Computer: Dell XPS 14z
Prior to my attempted memory upgrade, I had been running my Windows 7 guest successfully with no issues. Recently, I upgraded my memory from a total of 8 to a total of 16 GB and my Windows 7 Guest is crashing on boot. On one occasion, the guest presented a blue screen stating that there was a memory management problem. I am looking for a bit of guidance. How do I troubleshoot this problem? The host OS doesn't seem to have any problem with my memory upgrade.
Best,
Eric

Did you change the memory amount in your guest to make use of the increased host memory? If so your guest is touching parts of your host that it didn't touch before.
One of your memory sticks or something about your motherboard could be bad. Try some intensive memory tests with the guest shut down and see what is reported.

I reverted back to my original memory (8 GB) and my Window 7 Guest in Virtualbox is working again.
I do not believe the memory is bad. The 16 GB of memory worked great for the Linux host. I ran memtester on the host for hours without any problem. I ran several memory-intensive applications without problem. I am happy to preform additional tests on the memory if there are additional suggestions.
There could be a problem with my motherboard. However, I do not think there is any evidence for that. How can I test if the problem is due to my motherboard?
This problem only occurs for my Virtualbox Windows 7 guest. Without any further evidence, I have to assume this is a Virtualbox bug. Are there any other suggestions on how I can troubleshoot this problem?

Only thing I can suggest is to switch the old 8GB and the new 8GB and see what happens. You may also post a log of a run of the Windows guest when it crashes.

Are you using Saved State for the VM prior to changing the host RAM? Actually, if you could read Minimum information needed for assistance and give the VM log files, that would be great.
