Hello,

I was instructed by my boss to Connect my VM SQL IP address so it can communicate with my desktop excel to input and move data for clients. I am new to IT in general so I am completely lost. I know the main goal is to go into excel on my main desktop and pull data from an SQL server (Data, Other Sources) so they can communicate. I am lost completely and would really appreciate the help.

•The version of VirtualBox you are using, and whether you have installed the Guest Additions (in the guest).: Virtual 2012, I have no Idea if I have installed as guest....
•Host & Guest make and version including 32 or 64 bit, and the amount of memory available to both. Windows 2012 (64 Bit) 4096 MB BASE MEMORY, 128MB Video Memory

Folks here may or may not necessarily know how to get the SQL and Excel network thing going, other forums may be good for that.

But if you set your guest network to Bridged, your guest will be on the same network as your host, and look to your other PCs as just another PC on the network. Once your guest and host and other PCs can share files and folders back and forth, Virtualbox would then be set up correctly. You can then treat the problem as if you were working with all physical computers. Then use the help from the other forums for how to get SQL and Excel to talk to each other.
