"The endpoint is invalid error" when trying to open WinXP

Post by Pickle »

Hello

Everything has been working fine and then today when I went to open my Windows XP environment on the virtual box, the normal startup window appears and then goes back and says "The endpoint is invalid" with an K button under it. Then after clicking ok it constantly tries to boot.

I read through lots of postings but didn't find anything that helped. I also increased the base memory, tried unchecking the ports and network adapter but nothing worked.

I also just upgraded to 4.3.28 and installed the associated extension pack as well. I have attached a copy of the log. I'm not too tech but I can do a bit.

I have also attached the most recent log file and screen clip of the error message. Note when XP kept trying to boot I would do a Command+Q to quite VB so you might see that referenced a few times. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

See if this helps:

fwiw, that error is also associated with the Sasser worm.

Thanks for the quick response! I did see this in another posting but is something change in the Mac registry or windows xp? I disregarded it bc I figured it was the XP but wasn't sure. Also if it's associated with a worm is there something I can do to see about if it is the worm or getting rid of it?

It has nothing to do with your Mac. Try the fix first. If that doesn't work you would have to check a Windows forum on how to get rid of it.

but how do I get to where I need to make the registry change if I cannot get into Windows since it won't boot. Do I need to hold down a button while its trying to boot to get to where the changes need to be made?

You can try to boot into safe mode on the XP guest. You press the F8 key at boot.
