Virtualbox crashes when undocking

Hi,
I am using a docking station and most of the time (I would say 80%) virtual box crashes when I undock.
I am using VB version 4.3.28 r100309 under windows 7 enterprise SP1.
I attached the logs in case it can help to investigate.
Best,
David

This seems to be causing an issue. First I would try disabling the 3D acceleration and see if it helps.
Code: Select all
02:16:46.360693 UIMachineLogic: Host-screen geometry changed.
02:16:46.360795 UIMachineLogic: Host-screen available-area changed.
02:16:46.360831 UIMachineLogic: Host-screen count changed.
02:16:52.795506 UIMachineLogic: Host-screen available-area changed.
Also note that giving the guest all of the CPU cores can lead to issues.
Code: Select all
00:00:06.158750 NumCPUs <integer> = 0x0000000000000002 (2)
00:00:06.642878 Logical host processors: 4 present, 4 max, 4 online, online mask: 000000000000000f
00:00:06.643171 Physical host cores: 2
Research these suggestions and then when you have the answers raise a ticket at

Thanks for the quick reply.
So, I don't have 3D acceleration activated only 2D so can try to disable 2D.
Regarding cores I don't understand as I only allocated 2

(See image attached)
Thanks

Your CPU has 2 cores and 4 threads. Try setting it to 1 CPU.

Just to clearify. VirtualBox does not use threads and with hyper-threading it makes it appear that you have 4 cores and this is not true. That said I too have a test machine that has a core2 duo with hyper-threading and do allow the guest to use both cores. Normally I can get away with this unless I stress the guest and then try to use the host to do something. It is only a suggestion to see if you can isolate the cause to report.
For some reason the guest is invoking gl which is normally done with 3D acceleration but I guess it might be with 2D, I have never checked to be honest.
Code: Select all
00:00:19.420884 gl version string: 04.3.0 - Build 10.18.14.4099

Ok so without the 2D acceleration it seems it is working fine, 1 or 2 CPUs don't seem to be the problem.
I'll raise a ticket
Thanks for the help
