Hi All,
I tried installing a prebuilt Oracle Linux VM on Windows 7 host. It had a Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 installed.
I also installed sql developer in the vm but unable to connect to the db server.
lsnrctl services show the connection is refused

Why do you think this has anything to do with VirtualBox?
The error is clear: the connection is refused by the DB server : port is not open, or firewalled, or you got the wrong IP.

We probably need to find out if the failing command is being run on the host or on the guest, and if on the host, has the Virtualbox network been set up correctly.

I am unable to connect from both the host and the guest. However, not an issue with connectivity from host to guest as i have bridged adapter network settings in the network settings and don't think any issue with the virtual box as such.

I think it is to do with the DB configurations within the Oracle Linux VM (guest os) which i am unable to resolve. i found a link to this forum for a similar question in another forum and wondering if anyone had resolved this issue

OK, sounds like Virtualbox is doing its job then. If you can ping the guest and the host from each other, transfer files, etc., then the network is good. You'll need to hunt up a forum for that guest OS or the database it has inside it to get the database working.
