I've been having trouble with VirtualBox and installing a new image on my machine. A while ago, I changed the name of my home directory, and VirtualBox refers to /Users/oldDirName/VirtualBox VMs/ folder and says

Code: Select all

could not create a directory '/Users/oldDirName/VirtualBox VMs/Windows7' to save the settings file (VERR_ACCESS_DENIED)
VBoxManage: error: Details: code NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005), component Machine, interface IMachine, callee nsISupports
VBoxManage: error: Context: "SaveSettings()" at line 277 of file VBoxManageMisc.cpp
Any idea how to fix this? I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling a bunch of times.

Thanks in advance!

How exactly did you change the name of your Home directory?

I don't quite remember. I just remember finding some Stack Overflow posts and following those.

In the VirtualBox Manager GUI, go into menu "File > Preferences..." Under the General tab, you'll see "Default Machine Folder". Adapt to the new path.
