Networking Advice - HP Officejet AIO Printers

Post by wye »

VBox is running on a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit host. No problems.

I have Windows 10 Preview running in a VM and I'm able to get a printer driver for HP OfficeJet 8500 Premier to work with the default networking configuration by manually specifying the network address, but I'm not able to get the the scanner to work. The device is an All-In-One Printer/Fax/Scanner/Copier type device and has the ability to scan to a client PC by referring to its NETBIOS Hostname from the device control panel. But it requires that the device and the PC host using it be on the same subnet.

The printers reside on a 192.168.x.x type network and VBOX sets up the network adapter on a 10.x.x.x network. Still, Win 10 is able to print on the device.

However, the HP setup for scanning operations stalls. I suspect this is due to the default Network Mode.

Does anyone have any suggestions for Network Mode that will allow this to work?

TIA,
Wye

OK, thanks. I wondered about that. I'll give it a try.
Have a great day.
