Can't Connect Wi-Fi With Kali Linux

First off I'm new to VirtualBox! I've had it for about 3 weeks. I have Kali Linux, Ubuntu 15.04, and Tails 1.4 loaded as Guests and the host is a Windows 8.1 machine. I'm trying to get Kali working with a wi-fi connection. This is how I have things setup. However when trying to go online in Kali this is what I get. "Unable to mount location. Failed to retrieve share list from server". Please tell me how to properly set things up so I can get online!

I know I'm not online because when I try to ping Google I get a reply of "Network Unreachable"!

There are limitations when bridging to a Wifi adapter - it might or might not work, depending on the hardware itself and also on your AP hardware.
I have the feeling, given your error messages, that the guest adapter is not configured properly and/or you encounter the above issue.
Provide the output of the following commands in the guest:
Code: Select all
ifconfig -a
route -n
nslookup 8.8.8.8
ping 8.8.8.8

Oh yeah I changed the network to NAT and now the Host is Windows 10 Build 10074.

I wonder why the ipconfig command is not found?

Probably because it is ifconfig instead of ipconfig

Indeed, silly me. Regardless, the other commands show that your network connection is perfectly fine - you got IP connectivity and DNS resolution. I guess since you switched to NAT?

Okay, now that I'm online using NAT if at root@kali:~#ifconfig ******** down what do I put in for *******? Is it my SSID, DNS suffix, or USB Wireless LAN Card name? Maybe I should ask this on the Kali Linux forum?

The Kali forum is your next step yes - everything is working fine in VirtualBox.
