Youtube videos will not play

Post by dwsmithjr »

There is no sound and only the first part of the video will play, then it stops. Won't work in with either Chrome or Firefox. Windows 7 Ultimate OS. VM is allotted 2 processors, 256MB video memory which is all that I can assign; 2G of RAM.

VBox 4.3.28, Guest Additions installed
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on Sony Vaio, 8G RAM
Linux Mint 17 Guest, allow 2G RAM, 256 video memory which is all it appears to allow.

There are three groups of people. Those that can count and those that can't.

Yes, there's a regression from VirtualBox 4.3.20 to 4.3.22, regarding the Intel HD audio. If you change the sound volume in the guest, you should hear again.
I'm not sure what the other problem is. If you have 3D acceleration enabled for the guest, try disabling it.

Without the 3D acceleration the video is being rendered in software and the guest is VERY slow.
