Second network adapter doesn't work on Win Server 2008 Guest

Hi there,
I'm following a book about the MCTS 70-643 test to configure a Windows Server 2008 machine. The book asks for 2 adapters, a local one for the domain network and another one for the Internet.
However the latter doesn't work for me. The book says that just select "the physcal adaptor" will work, but the book is based on MS Virtual PC and I didn't find on how can I make it work like it asks.
I've tried NAT, bridge and host-only and nothing makes it go online.
The book also requires that NAT must be configured on the Win guest, which I've done.
The local adapter works and the other VM (also running Win Server 2008) and both VM can see each other on the local connection.
