hi friends
I"m using VirtualBox 4.3.28 in Windows 8.1. I created a virtual machine of Windows XP in a previos version of VirtualBox and now I'm running it in this new version.
The problem is that I have no access to Internet in Windows XP. Check device manager of Windows XP and I found that driver of network card is not installed.
In Networt Configuration of virtual machine I select connected to NAT. This worked in previos version of VirtualBox.
Thank you for your help
See you

Re: problem in win 8.1 for win xp
Could you please show me the output of "showvminfo"?
Open a console window, navigate to the "C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox" folder (or add it to the command path), and type :-
When the command completes, look in the folder for the "vminfo.txt" file just created, zip it and post it here.

In no particular order...
[*] I see you have selected "Windows XP (64bit)" as the guest OS version. That is almost certainly incorrect. XP-64bit was a very rare beast because nobody wrote drivers for it. Please change this to "Windows XP (32bit)".
[*] The above change may make VirtualBox revert to VT-x disabled for the VM, make sure to enable it again if so.
[*] You still have the Guest Additions ISO mounted in the virtual CD drive. Please eject that.
[*] You have the "Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop (82540EM)" network card selected in the VM settings. Please put this back to the default which XP has drivers for: "PCnet-FAST III (Am79C973)".

Re: problem in win 8.1 for win xp
I already solved the problem
to resolve the problem perform the following steps:
1. change the version of Windows XP 64-bit
2. change the network adapter connected to NAT and also the adapter type to: PCnet-FAST III (Am79C973)
I did all this with the virtual machine off
