(Resolved)VB failed to install on Windows 10 Insider Preview

Post by mynameinvb »

Hi,
I have a windows 10 insider preview desktop. I tried to install vb 4.3.28 and 4.3.24 on it, both failed.
The installation seemed ok in the beginning, but suddenly the progress bar showed "rolling back action" and then end the installation with the following screen.

Capture.PNG (96.16 KiB) Viewed 1651 times
After clicking "Finish" button, this screen showed up:
Capture2.PNG
Capture2.PNG (3.8 KiB) Viewed 1651 times
Changing the installer compatibility to "windows 7" does not help.

Any idea what may be wrong here?

One problem is you are trying to install VirtualBox on Windows 10 which isn't supported yet.

It has not been possible to install VirtualBox or recent builds of the technical preview unless you don't install bridged networking. It then installs fine for me on both 10071 and10122.

Well, of course I know it isn't support yet, and I believe VirtualBox should be following up very soon. Just report a problem or try to trouble shoot in the forum, so ppl can use it earlier.

You mean I can opt out the bridged network while installing?

Another question, how to get email alert for answer? I didn't know I got reply until I remember I asked something here, and come back to check...

Thanks, BillG. That works! Just untick the bridged network option when choosing the installation component, and it installs fine.
