VirtualBox hangs on creating process for virtual machine
Posted: 20. May 2015, 20:13
This only happens with new virtual machines. all of my old ones work just fine. I have been keeping virtualbox up to date, and never really noticed any issues since I was using virtual machines that I have already made.
But today when I tried to create a new virtual machine, it would hang the moment I try to launch it, and after a while, a window will pop up that says "creating process for virtual machine". It will simply stay at 0% until you kill the process using task manager.
The only other changes that I have noticed is more of an annoyance over the past few months, is when you launch a virtual machine, it starts in a very tiny window that you have to manually resize.
Virtual box version: VirtualBox 4.3.28
Tried both a 32 bit and 64 bit VM
I also tried uninstalling virtualbox, and deleting its leftover folders (except the VMs folder), and then reinstalling virtualbox, trying new make a new virtual machine, with and without the VirtualBox Extension Pack installed, and still the same issue.
As for the log files, the VM's that I have made in the past work just fine and create log files. For any VM that I try to create now. They hang as son as you launch them, and no log file is ever created
All of the VM settings are on the defaults except for the RAM which I up to 3GB.
System specs are
AMD Phenom II x6 1075t
Motherboard: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3
12GB DDR3 1866 memory
GTX 760
Storage: Samsung 850 pro 256GB SSD, Sandisk Ultra 120GB SSD, 1TB WD black, 2TB WD green
Edit: weird, there is a log file in the folder, but the but virtualbox says no log files found.
I had to zip the file because it jumps right to 276KB and the forums limits me to 128KB
