I am running Windows 7 as a host and another copy as a guest.
I ran out of room on the guest so I did VboxManage modifyhd [vdi file] --resize 32000 . Worked fine.
Looking in "Settings" on the host for the guest I find the 32GB.
I launch the Windows 7 guest and look to "Expand" and it shows the original disk size (12gb).
Both are up-to-date with their shots and generally play nice with others.
Any suggestions or comments are welcomed.

No snapshots, it was a fresh install.

Re: resized HDD not seen in guest
Didn't you say the guest was Windows 7? Why not use the disk management under manage?
Run the following in a command window and post the results ( as an attachment ).
VBoxManage showvminfo <name of guest>

15)If you want to grow the snapshot you would need to resize the snapshot and not the base.

Re: resized HDD not seen in guest
Yikes, I have no idea how that happened. Very weird. I installed Windows 7 from an image (iso).
Thanks, for the catch, I must admit my stupidity.
Thanks....
