Remote desktop from laptop to VM on same network

Hi all,
I have windows 8.1 64 bit os in which I have virutal box 4.3 version on which windows server 2008 r2 has been installed and the network mode/Network adapter for that has been set to Host Only Adapter.
I have a laptop with windows 7 using wifi on the same network. I would like to directly connect with the virtual machine from the laptop using remote desktop. Currently the way I am connecting is doing remote desktop from laptop to windows 8.1 os and from there I am logging in into the VM. Instead, I would like to directly connect to the VM from the laptop bypassing the windows 8 OS.
Kindly do tell me how to achieve this. But whatever solution that you propose please bear in mind that I dont want to expose my VM to the outside world. It should be visible only on my network and I should be able to connect directly from the laptop using remote desktop.
