I am attempting to install Virtual box 4.3.28 on my windows 7 (ultimate) system. I tried from my personal account and I tried from the administrator account. Both attempts fail. The discussion below is from my latest attempt to do the install from the administrator login. The uploaded files are from the attempt to install with the administrator account.

The scenario is that the installation seems to proceed normally and toward the end I get a dialogue box that says that the installation ended prematurely and then a dialogue box that says that installation failed: error: Fatal error during installation. In the c:\windows\inf folder there are two files setupapi.app.log and setupapi.dev.log that seems to be a log of the installation.

The setupapi.app contains an entry "!!! dvi: Add Service: Failed to create service 'VBoxDrv'." but there is no hint of what might have caused that. I have looked and there is no service under that name running. Searching the registry gives no hint of "VBoxDrv" or of the key A59F81F4A054213351F1540F5A00A253.

Can anyone suggest something that I have missed?

I downloaded a correct one from sourceforge.

I did this and it worked like a charm
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Network
change MaxNumFilter from 8 to 20
