Hi,
I have VirtualBox v4.3.28 running on a Windows 8.1host (laptop), with built-in wireless adapter which I use for accessing the Internet and also the HP LaserJet Pro 200 M276nw wireless printer.
The Guest o/s is WinXP (SP3 level).
I have set several folders on the Host for Sharing both ways, and this is working fine.
However, it is the use of a printer across the network that is causing me a problem. Although I have installed for use on the Guest an old HP DeskJet printer using one of the USB ports which is set to be visible to the Guest - and this works fine (it is also set to be usable on the Host) - I would like to use the wireless printer on the Guest, but am unable to find it on the XP's printer list.
On the VirtualBox Network Settings for the Guest, I have selected 'Bridged Adapter' and set the Network Adapter to 'Qualcomm Wireless Network Adapter' although there is also a 'Qualcomm Ethernet Controller' and a'VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter' (with the latter selected, the Guest will not load).
The wireless printer on the Host is set for Sharing, complete with name, and I have activated the Windows 8 'HomeGroup' networking set-up, although this does not seem to affect either the shared folders or help the printer sharing.
On the Host machine, under Network Connections, the 'VirtualBox Host-Only Network' is Enabled, and within that the 'VirtualBox Bridged Networking Driver', as well as 'File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks' and Client for Microsoft Networks, are ticked (as well as one or two other options).
Try as I might, I cannot seem to get the wireless HP LaserJet set up on the Guest, or even see it.
Any help or thoughts? Thank you.
Networking printer on Guest.
