Hosts sw VPN client prevents VM LAN connection

Hi,

I'm using Windows 7 x64 as host and Windows 7 32 Bit as guest with PortableVirtualBox 4.3.18. The host is connected to a LAN with a DHCP server. With the Cisco VPN client software on the host I can have a VPN connection to the company I'm working for. Once I am connected to the company I cannot use other network services within the LAN (for example LAN attached printer, LAN attached NAS or private internet surfing). This is expected behavior.

I would like to use the VM in order to still connect to my LAN. However, once I start the Cisco VPN Client, the VM can't connect to the Internet or any other LAN targets anymore.
I do NOT want to share the VPN connection to the company with my VM.

How can I connect the Internet or LAN without going through the host's software VPN?
Currently, the network setting is NAT and Promiscuous mode: deny. I tried to set up a bridged network, but this is not possible because the combo box "Name" below the network bridge does not allow me to choose anything.

Can you please help me?

Third party forks of VirtualBox, e.g. Portable VirtualBox, are not supported here.

I guess Portable VirtualBox just starts VirtualBox.
Do you think that the behavior I described is different from what I would observe when I install VirtualBox?

You may be able to get help, since the official Virtualbox without the "Portable" add-ons would be in use. If you still have trouble after trying the official Virtualbox, see this for info the forum gurus would need: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=48476

Perhaps, who knows. Certainly not us! You would need to ask them, or switch to the official version.
