I cannot get Virtual Box to create 64-bit guest.
I have an i7Core 4790K on an ASUS Z97-A MOBO
This is very strange…
I get these results from coreinfo.exe:
Intel Virtualization DISABLED in BIOS
HYPERVISOR - Hypervisor is present
VMX * Supports Intel hardware-assisted virtualization
SVM - Supports AMD hardware-assisted virtualization
EM64T * Supports 64-bit mode
Intel Virtualization ENABLED in BIOS
HYPERVISOR * Hypervisor is present
VMX - Supports Intel hardware-assisted virtualization
SVM - Supports AMD hardware-assisted virtualization
EM64T * Supports 64-bit mode
So if Intel Virtualization is enabled, it switches off VMX (this is VT-x Right?) which is needed for 64-bit guest to be created by Virtual Box.
Strangest part is while I was talking to ASUS, he had me power down and unplug PC. When I powered back up, I went into Virtual Box and it would allow me to create 64-bit guest.
So I just did a reboot before creating a 64-bit guest, and now the option is gone?
It makes no sense, the option was there so: obviously my CPU and MOBO have the requirements to create 64-bit guest. But, it is gone! I have re-installed, switched Intel Virtualization on and off, nothing!
Should Intel Virtualization be Enabled or Disabled?
What am I doing wrong...
Please help me. I basically bought this upgrade, just to be able to get more performance out of Virtual Box with Windows server products, that are 64-bit.
Can't create 64-bit guest
Re: Can't create 64-bit guest
Thank you. I think it is a conflict with Hyper-V. I am going to try some commands to disable it and see if this works. Thank you so much!
