Virtualbox broke my Windows 10 USB

Hi all,

My first post here. I am not familiar with Virtualbox, I just decided I wanted to install Windows 3.11 for fun, followed some instructions and had DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11 running on a VM.
I noticed that the Network had stopped working on my Windows 10 (I'm testing it). Setup warned of a temporary network drop, so I thought a reboot would fix that.

I rebooted and now I cannot use my mouse and keyboard anymore, no lights, just dead. In fact, I am locked out from Windows. Apparently "safe mode" is now run under Windows - hence you need a keyboard and a mouse - and I am very stuck.

I have Windows 7 on another drive and I could access Windows 10's folder if anything could be done manually.

Could someone possibly help?

Thank you
Tony

Hi,

Ok, I've sorted it.
I've manually deleted virtualbox's USB drivers from the Windows/System32/Drivers folder

vboxdrv.sys
vboxnetadp.sys
vboxnetflt.sys
vboxusbmon.sys
vboxusb.sys

USB came back to life. Network didn't but at that point I was in, uninstalled Virtualbox and all is good now.

Thanks!
Tony
