Linux Mint Stuck on splash screen and wont boot
SORRY FOR THE MESSY POST IM BAD AT READING THE DIRECTIONS-I am relatively new to vm and tried to test linux mint (cinnamon 17.1) on my laptop. Virtualbox version 4.23.26. I have installed the 64bit version of mint but upon creating a virtual machine i am limited to 32bit (might be my first problem) upon booting i get stuck on (this occurs after saying automatically booting after 10 sec) after some tinkering, i went to the boot bios and selected hard drive which resulted in the other boot bios in mint shows prntscr. com/6xi40b and nothing happens when i click enter on the first option and i cant move to any other options, here is my log pastebin. com/mW17VWZ8 Other info: I have allocated up to gig of ram and originally 70gb for this vm

I was playing with this yesterday. Even though I was trying to load the 32 version of Mint, it would lock up until I chose the 64 bit Ubuntu version of Linux for the operating system.

Re: Linux Mint Stuck on splash screen and wont boot
The only explanation is you downloaded the 64bit .iso instead of the 32bit .iso.PixelDick wrote:I was playing with this yesterday. Even though I was trying to load the 32 version of Mint, it would lock up until I chose the 64 bit Ubuntu version of Linux for the operating system.

Somehow I missed part of what you said. See: I have a 64bit host, but can't install 64bit guestsZeroxPaladin wrote:I am relatively new to vm and tried to test linux mint (cinnamon 17.1) on my laptop. Virtualbox version 4.23.26…

Re: Linux Mint Stuck on splash screen and wont boot
Possibly, but it was labeled 32bit on the Mint web site. This might explain why the original poster was having a problem.

Re: Linux Mint Stuck on splash screen and wont boot
No, his problem was he only had 32bit options in VB. Probably because he VT-x wasn't enabled or available.
