Did I lose updated work on my virtual HD?

Hello,
I was working quite a while on my VB, when I was done I needed to insert another virtual disk (all wmdk) and since they were similar (first with my updates and the other one not updated, obviously I could not do it.
So as to establish a new OS I went to File -> manager of virtual media and removed the disk I worked on with the statement (do not erase - put on the side and when you need you can attach it again). But when I wanted to work with the same disk again It showed me unupdated OS. Did I lose everything?
