Virtualbox restricted for school use

Post by AMS stagiair »

Hello,

I couldnt find a topic for this so im going to start a new one.
I want to use Virtualbox for students, so they can install a virtualmachine and download software and test this.
But i want to lock or hide some functions, so they cant change the network settings.
Is this even possible ?
Sorry for my bad english, still learning..
Thanks for the replies :D

I wouldn't think so. Not unless you compiled your own custom version.

"custom"

As in downloading the source code, modifying it to suit your needs and compiling it yourself. Something requiring a certain level of expertise.

Hard to say if you did something wrong or not from here. You would need to post what you did and the results of the message/s.

Keep in mind that if you're on a Windows host, you need to open a command window pointing at the folder containing the Vboxmanage.exe file for the Vboxmanage commands in the help file to work. The usual install location for Vboxmanage.exe is "C:\Program Files\Oracle\Virtualbox" On Windows 7 (and later I think) you can go to "C:\Program Files\Oracle", hold down Shift and right-click the "Virtualbox" folder, and choose "Open Command Window Here" to get the correctly-arranged command window.

"none of them seems to do anything"

What does this mean? Do you receive an error? Or does the command complete without any message?

Something to keep in mind, All guests need to be shutdown along with VirtualBox itself for the commands to work. At least that's how I remember it.
