I've got ubuntu 8.o4 hardy and installed the virtualbox, ...every time i try to run my virtual machine the following error comes up:
The VirtualBox kernel driver is not accessible to the current user. Make sure that the user has write permissions for /dev/vboxdrv by adding them to the vboxusers groups. You will need to logout for the change to take effect..
VBox status code: -1909 (VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_ACCESSIBLE).

I gue this is because I have not perform my online registration, but when i try to log in, the following error come up:
Failed to connect to the virtualbox online registration service....could not perform connection handshake.....
I'm a rookie using linux so i would really appreciate your help..
Failed to connect to the virtualbox online
Have you made your username a member of the VirtualBox user group?
For some reason I am having the same problem with the registration at present but apart from that VirtualBox works.
If you are not in the VirtualBox user group you won't have the correct permissions to write to certain folders that are required.

Re: Failed to connect to the virtualbox online
I get the same Handshake error on 3.0.2 on Vista SP2 with or without Symantec EPP enabled, is there aProxy setting anywhere or does it rely on the Windows IE proxy setting?

Re: Failed to connect to the virtualbox online
The registration dialogue does not have proxy support at the moment. The error about the module is not caused by the registration. It's about a package problem which caused VB to fail when compiling the kernel module. You need some development packages before you can build kernel modules. These are described in my Howto: Install Linux Guest Additions + Xorg config, first half, the preparations. These are the same as for Linux Hosts.
