Host W7
Guest XP
I have a 360 controller and was wondering how I get it to be recognized in VB.
Thanks in advance for responses.

Virtualbox can pass some USB devices to a guest. If your controller has a USB plug, look at section 3.10 in the user manual.
Please keep in mind that gaming in a virtual machine may not work well, since the VM can't get access to the Physical PC's video controller's advanced game processing directly. There is experimental 3D acceleration for VMs, but whether a particular game will work well or not can only be determined by experiment.

Thanks. I can get a few games to work. Surprising GTA Vice City, GTA 3 and San Andreas work rather well with minimal framerate issues. Thats surprising because its quite a physics demanding game. The Movies Stunts and Effects works well.
SWAT 4 works albeit with poor framerate. Playable but not great.
Rome Total War and Pro Evolution Soccer 11 I can use the main menus but in actual gameplay it doesn't work.
This is with an I5 3470
Is the reason why the games that I mentioned that struggle to get past the menus due to VB or is it more down to my CPU? If I upgrade these games is it likely to improve the framerate of of SWAT 4 or get past the menus of RTW and PES11?

I don't really know. You may be hitting the video-card-access situation I mentioned. Hardware in the VM is virtualized: the "video card" your VM sees is not the physical super-beast the host PC uses, but is a "Virtualbox" video card. Look at your VM's Device Manager under Display Adapters. You should see a Virtualbox Graphics Adapter. Best of my knowledge there's no way to change this. The Guest Additions offer experimental 3D support which may help if you install it - browse the forum & read the manual for instructions.

Thanks. Is there anyway to increase my video memory beyond 128mb? I have a 8800GT

Increasing the virtual video RAM will not stop it being virtual. It still has nothing to do with the performance of your host graphics card.
Think of it as one two PCs networked together, with one PC (the host) rendering graphics piped to it by the other. Increasing graphics RAM on the PC that isn't doing any rendering... will not accomplish a lot.
