Hello, I'm having a hard time installing VB, Ubuntu and Hadoop on my macbook.
My config: OS X 10.5.8
VB version: 3.2.24 r95036
Ubuntu version: 14.10
Hadoop: To be downloaded and installed
I'm new to this kind of setup. It will be of great help if you could help me with the installation.
Problems I'm seeing:
- System becomes very slow and freezing when I access Ubuntu
- It freezes completely and never comes to normal
Thanks,
Phxj

Re: Help with installing VB, Ubuntu, Hadoop
VB 3.2.24 is much too old to run Ubuntu 14.10
You should attach the vbox.log (compressed) to a message.
Which MacBook do you have? if you are running 10.5.8 it must be fairly old.

Thanks for your response.
Please see details of the mac:
Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,5
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.26 GHz
Let me know which VB and Ubuntu version would be suitable. I've attached the log file for reference.
Thanks,
Phxj

Re: Help with installing VB, Ubuntu, Hadoop
YW. To be perfectly honest. You don't have the RAM or the CPU to support running almost any guest much less a guest and Apache.
You really need to think about upgrading your PC.
Normally one would set the RAM for a guest to half the available memory. You might be able to run 512mb guests but your CPU has no hardware acceleration support. so no matter what, guests would be slow.00:00:01.031 Host RAM: 2048MB RAM, available: 844MB

Sure. Thanks for checking the logs. I'll look at getting a new laptop, probably a windows one this time.
